Solang Valley | Travel diaries part 5
I was already getting late for breakfast, I quickly took a warm shower, grabbed my jacket, and went to the breakfast area. Today was the day we were about to visit The Solang valley. I was very excited to play with the snow, to make the snowman, to throw snowballs at my friends, and to just roll over and over again in the snow. I took 2 boiled eggs, bread-butter, and a coffee and sat next to my friends. The view from the hotel was like heaven, having our breakfast, with the mesmerizing view was surreal. We were informed to make a group of 10 people. As we were about to go in the van because the buses can't go to that place. So this is how everyone was sitting: two of my friends were sitting next to the driver, the other three were sitting in the front row, me and my three friends were in the back seat. We were told to halt at a place to rent ourselves snowsuit and boots. The place was 30 minutes from our hotel, so I decided to take a nap.
As I woke up, I could see colorful suits hanging all over the street. We stopped at the place where our other group members were checking out for suits. Now, the difficult part was to find the perfect size snowsuit. One of the ladies gave me a pink color suit, and I was very excited to try that one. I slowly slid my left leg first, and then the right leg, but couldn't fit my waist in it. Though, somehow I tried to fit but, it was so uncomfortable. Removing it was a really tedious task. Then, she gave me another suit, it was black in color, and had red color thing going on the shoulder and arms. I tried that one, and it was looking decent. later, I took snow boots of my size. They were renting, boots and suits for 100 bucks each, and were selling socks and gloves for 100 each. I went for gloves. They weren't of good quality and didn't do the task, for what they were made for.
We drove for the next 30 minutes and finally reached near to the valley. The driver told us to walk for five minutes to reach the entrance of the valley. It was quite difficult to walk on the sluggish snow melting road. We walked for a while and came across a guy who was selling one of the adventure activities packages. We bargained with him and finally got an amazing deal. The guy told us to wait for some time. So, we started playing with the snow, everyone started making snowballs and threw at each other, I was enjoying it. One of the best parts was to just sit there silently with yourself and just look how beautiful mother nature is. The view was mesmerizing.
Later, The guy came and took us for the activities.
The first activity was "The tire tube slide". So honestly, it wasn't much thrilling, because the moment I sat on the tire, within seconds, I was at the end of the slide. So, It was very quick.
The next activity was "Ziplining". I was excited about this, I had done something similar when I was in 8th grade in school. It was a distance of 10-15 meters over a river. So here, We had two options: Go alone or take a friend with you. I went for the second option. I was a bit nervous and excited at the same time. You can see the video below.
The third activity was the "snow scooter". I really enjoyed it a lot. later, we started walking to the place where the other set of activities would take place. While walking for about 15minutes I started feeling thirsty. My throat was getting dry and it was craving for water. While walking for the next 3-4 minutes, I came across a lady who was filling water bottles through a handpump. She asked, "Do you want to have water?" My eyes were full of joy, I smiled and said "yes". I thought she might charge something for water, but she didn't. I and my friends thanked her and started walking again. I looked back at the lady she was now filling the water bottle. This incident still makes me so happy, that there are still a few thoughtful people in this beautiful world.
So, The next activity was "Skiing". I was very excited about this, I gently slid my foot in the skiing shoes and attentively heard what the instructor was saying. I then slowly slid my right leg and then the left leg, keeping my body titled ahead, then again the right and the left leg, and within a distance of 5m, I fell down and started laughing because that's what I always love to do. Getting up on your own was one of the difficult tasks, the instructor helped me to get up. I again slowly slid my right leg and then the left leg, this time I managed for 7m and fell again. You know what? Falling wasn't making me quit. In fact, it was giving me the strength to try more and more until I succeed. I again started doing it and this time I started gaining some confidence and I was really enjoying it. The moment I thought I have learned the technique, I came across a girl who was standing still with her instructor on my way. The girl looked scared and she knew we both might clash at each other. I tried tilting myself to the left and I fell down. I was in a state of relief that I didn't clash her. She smiled at me showing a gesture of thankfulness. We both exchanged a great sense of emotions and I again got up and started skiing.
Later, we were told to go to the respective vans. I was following one of my friends. Soon I realized that I am lost, I could see a white bedsheet of snow everywhere with a colorful pop of snowsuits. I wasn't carrying my phone and I haven't memorized any of my friend's numbers. After gazing for a minute or two finally found my friend and we both reached the van. we removed our snowsuits and boots and sat in the van waiting for others to come. As it was getting late we had to cancel our few plans. We went to our hotel and slept for two hours and got ready for the DJ night. That DJ night was one of the emotional ones. We had our dinner and went to sleep.
